GERRY – A 37-year-old Gerry woman was arrested by Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies after the allegedly struck another vehicle when she failed to stop at the stop sign at Gerry-Ellington Road at Herrick Road in Gerry about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Brenda DeCastro Barton of Ellwell Road, was northbound on Herrick when she failed to stop at the sign and struck a vehicle that was westbound on Gerry-Ellington. The driver of the other vehicle, Margaret A. Dillard, 49, of Union City, Pa., and her passenger, Donald M. Herrmann, 22, of Erie, Pa., both suffered leg injuries and were taken to WCA Hospital in Jamestown by Gerry and Sinclairville rescue units.

DeCastro Barton, who was not injured, was ticketed for failing to stop at a stop sign and for having an uninspected vehicle. She was released without bail pending and is to appear in Gerry Town Court in two weeks.
