A new contract agreement for the first time limits the Iroquois School District’s exposure to rate increases in health insurance costs.
The Civil Service Employees Association agreed to pay the full cost of any rate hikes that exceed 15 percent in a school year. The agreement is effective from this July 1 through June 30, 2017.
Superintendent Douglas Scofield said Monday, “The majority of our union members live in the district so I think they’re conscious of the financial well-being of the district.”
The contract also calls for a 2.9 percent annual salary increase. Previous contracts had an average annual increase of 3.5 percent.
The 160 members of the CSEA in Iroquois are spread among support, clerical, maintenance, transportation, and buildings and grounds staff.
In another matter, the district hired Eric W. Nagel to be the new transportation supervisor, effective March 4.
Formerly of the West Seneca School District, Nagel replaces Bradford Masters Jr. who retired this month after working 30 years in the district.
