People Inc. promoted Elysa Maurer and Crystal Ohnmeiss to senior program managers and Soyenia Gibson to program manager. Maurer, who has been with the agency since 2009, has held positions of ICF specialist, cook, team leader and primary program instructor/family care home liaison. Ohnmeiss, a Fredonia State College graduate, has been employed at the agency since 2006. She has held several positions, most recently program manager. Gibson, who has been with the agency since 2000, has previously served as instructor, treatment coordinator and primary instructor. She is a Buffalo State College graduate.


National Fire Adjustment President Ronald J. Papa testified before the Catastrophe Loss Committee with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. The NFA is a family-owned and -operated public adjusting and loss consulting firm.

General Motors’ Town of Tonawanda engine plant received the Green Globe Award from the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Chamber of Commerce for implementing and practicing a green and sustainable business philosophy. Through recycling its scrap metal and converting waste to energy, the plant saved enough electricity in 2012 to meet the annual usage needs of almost 10,300 homes. The plant landfills no waste, recycling, reusing or converting to energy all waste from daily operations since 2006. Last year, it recycled enough cardboard to save 8,900 trees and enough scrap metal to make nearly 5,000 automobiles.


The Williamsville/Clarence branch of Hunt Real Estate ERA received the Office of the Year award at the company’s annual awards event recently. The award is given to the Hunt branch that meets its goals on overall performance relative to plan. The office has 72 real estate sales professionals. In addition, Barbara Baker was named agent of the year, and Joel Calabrese and Judy Ralabate were named the No. 1 team for the Buffalo region.


The DuPont Yerkes plant in the Town of Tonawanda awarded a $7,000 DuPont Community Fund grant to the Canisius College Academic Talent Search Program. The program serves about 600 young people recruited from Buffalo-area schools and service organizations. Eligible participants are from low-income households and are potential first-generation college students. DuPont will also sponsor Tanya Johnson, instructional specialist coach for science at Bennett High School, to attend the National Science Teachers Convention April 11 to 14 in San Antonio, Texas.
