The Village of East Aurora won’t be short on patriotism this summer.

The village is ordering American flags for many of its light posts along Main Street, planning to display them from every other alternating post with flower baskets.

The poles without flags will have patriotic banners, which the village first hung last summer.

Village officials said they did not yet know the cost of the new flags that will be ordered soon.

The flags are expected to be up by the Independence Day holiday. Flower baskets typically are put up in late May. Public Works Director Matthew Hoeh said the flags would be hung at a 45-degree angle and be clearly visible, but not hanging over the sidewalk or street.

For now, the village plans to purchase 60 flags for this summer and wants to get feedback from the community about whether to buy more for the following summer, Village Administrator Bryan Gazda said.
