5. Nichols girls hockey. Vikings (31-7-1) followed regular season title in North American Prep Hockey Association with second straight playoff title.

6. Clarence wrestling and Canisius boys swimming. Pair of Power 10 stalwarts were off the past week. Wrestling states this weekend, swimming next weekend.

7. Frontier boys and Sweet Home girls bowling. Section VI champions off to states in Syracuse next weekend.

8. Lockport girls basketball. Backed up their No. 1 large school ranking with verrrrry close win over No. 2 Sacred Heart.

9. Silver Creek boys basketball. One of five unbeaten boys teams in the state, ranked second in Class C poll (one spot ahead of Maple Grove).

10. Monsignor Martin girls hockey. Uncanny ability to stay one step ahead of Williamsville, right to the end of the championship game.
