Wegmans Food Markets has recalled its 5-pound bags of Wegmans brand All-Purpose Bleached Flour, saying it may contain small blue polyurethane balls.
The balls, which are a quarter to a third of an inch in diameter, come from the product sifting equipment and are made of a flexible food-grade material, according to the recall notice, posted at www.wegmans.com.
“They are not sharp, and because of their bright blue color and size (about half the diameter of a dime), would be easily seen in the flour,” the warning said.
The recalled product was sold between Dec. 24, 2012 and Feb. 15, 2013, and may be returned for a full refund. For more information, call (855) 934-3663 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and ask for Consumer Affairs.
