A former Medina man who had been on the run for more than two months has been apprehended near Erie, Pa., and will be extradited by U.S. Marshals.

The Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task force announced Monday that Allen M. Young, 36, who currently has no address and once lived in Medina, was approached by investigators Dec. 13 in a parking lot on Routes 104 and 63, but he fled in a vehicle, nearly striking two task force investigators.

He left the scene at a high rate of speed, and moments later, the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a crash with a vehicle off the road on Marshall Road, north of Route 104.

Investigators said Young fled on foot into the nearby woods.

At the scene of the crash, investigators seized from Young’s vehicle more than a half-pound of marijuana, more than a pound and a half of methylone, which is a federally controlled substance known as bath salts, a scale, packaging and other drug paraphernalia.

Investigators said Young fled to Florida, but earlier this month they received a tip he had returned to this area.
