The Buffalo Junior Sabres 12-under team earned a thrilling triumph in its first official game of the Quebec International Pee Wee Tournament on Monday, beating St. Louis, 2-1, in overtime.

Trevor Peca, the son of former Buffalo Sabre Michael Peca, scored twice — including the game-winner on the power play in OT off a Matthew Doyle assist. Dan Mikolajczak made 33 saves for Buffalo, who will play three exhibition games at the event before its next official contest on Thursday against national No. 2 Detroit Honeybaked.

In other hockey news, the Buffalo Junior Sabres host Ontario Junior Hockey League foe Oakville at 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Niagara Center. The Junior Sabres can clinch the West Division title and home-ice advantage throughout the conference playoffs with a win. Georgetown kept its hopes alive at overtaking Buffalo for the division with an 8-3 win Monday afternoon over Orangeville. Georgetown trails by one point with one game left while the Junior Sabres have two games left.
