Raising the speed limit won’t make roads safer

This is in response to the letter about speed limits. If the speed limits are increased, how would that make roads safer? This is an example of why driving is not enjoyable anymore. Everyone seems to be in a hurry, like they are late for an appointment, going 10 or more mph over the speed limit.

Hardly anyone knows how to coast to a stop light or sign. People keep their foot on the gas until they have to brake at the last possible moment, only to have to wait longer at the stop. Yet they will wait in a drive-through with plenty of cars ahead of them.

For every ticket given out, there are hundreds of drivers getting away with it. Maybe we should replace speed limit signs with ones that say “drive at your own risk.” That seems to be the way anyway. Also look up the word “limit” in the dictionary.
