The Buffalo Bandits will have a new backup goaltender when they play the Knighthawks in Rochester on Saturday night. Scott Komer has been signed as a free agent by the team. He’ll replace the injured Kurtis Wagar in the job of backing up Anthony Cosmo.

Komer had been playing with the Barrie Blizzard of the Canadian Lacrosse League. His roots go back more than a decade with Buffalo. Komer was drafted by the Bandits in the ninth round in 1998. He played 157 minutes for the 2001 edition of the Bandits, winning one game and having a goals-against average of 16.79.

Wagar pulled muscles in his thigh during Saturday’s loss to Rochester. There’s no word on his return, but coach Darris Kilgour said Wagar is out of Saturday’s game.
