A Hewitt Avenue woman who pepper sprayed a security guard during an after school incident at South Park High School Tuesday night was charged with second-degree assault, police said.

Willie J. Lewis, 54, was fighting with her daughter in the school lobby about 6 p.m. when the security tried to force the two out of the school, police said. As the security guard was trying to get the pair out of the school, Lewis said “I got something for you” and pepper sprayed the guard’s face and eyes, damaging his contact lenses, police said. Others also were hit with the spray, according to a police report.

Lewis fled the school but was later arrested by officers Thomas Harlach and Michael Ross in a restaurant at Abbott and Southside Parkway, police said,

The pepper spray was found at the restaurant, according to police reports.

Lewis was also charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and unlawfully possessing noxious material.
