At this point in the season, they’re all important games. But as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings remain jammed at the top, each contest provides a new opportunity to create some space. That’s what the Canisius men will look to do tonight when they face Loyola in Baltimore (7:30 p.m., Radio 1400 AM).
The teams enter the contest with 9-5 MAAC records and part of a three-way tie for second with Iona, behind league-leader Niagara (10-4).
Canisius is averaging 73.2 points a game. The last time they averaged more points per game was in 2000-01 when they scored 77.3 a game. Four players are netting double figures for the Griffs.
Meanwhile, the Canisius women look to make some noise against second-place Fairfield (8-4) when they play the Stags at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn. (6 p.m.) At 6-6, the Golden Griffins are tied with Rider for fifth place.
Ashley Durham leads the Griffs, averaging 11 points a game.
