July 4, 1929 – Jan. 31, 2013

Anthony Cubello Jr., a Niagara Falls real estate agent and a religious healer, died Jan. 31. He was 83.

Born in Niagara Falls, he was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and took business and real estate courses at the University of Buffalo and Niagara University. He also attended Niagara County Community College, earning certification in real estate law and real estate finance.

Mr. Cubello was a past president of the Niagara Falls Area Board of Realtors.

After attending a healing service in 1991 in Medjugorje, Yugoslavia, a site where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared to children, he said he heard a voice calling him to a higher ministry and began praying over people. His first laying on of hands took place in St. George Catholic Church in Niagara Falls.

Taking his ministry throughout the Diocese of Buffalo, to Rochester and Southern Ontario, he led a team of seven healers in the Queen of Peace Healing Ministry. He led monthly healing Masses in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1700 North French Road, Getzville.

Numerous people reported improvements in chronic ailments after attending his healing services.

“God decided to use me as an instrument of His healing power,” Mr. Cubello told an interviewer in 2004. “I have no power within myself; it is God’s power that comes through me. I couldn’t heal a headache for you with my own power.”

He wrote a book of his experiences, “His Healing Peace.”

Survivors include a son, the Rev. Anthony Cubello III.

A memorial Mass will be offered at noon Saturday in St. Pius X Church.
