• The Canisius High School Sports Network (at canisiushigh.org) will provide live web streaming of Saturday’s St. Joe’s basketball game on its website starting at 1:50 p.m.

NBA color analyst and former Niagara University coach Jack Armstrong will provide color commentary with Director of Alumni Relations Paul Zablocki on play-by-play.

Coming attractions

• This is the final week of the regular season for nearly all boys basketball teams in Western New York. The week will conclude with two major events on Saturday. The sectional tournament pairings and schedule will be officially determined at the Section VI seeding meeting in the morning, and at 2 p.m. Canisius and St. Joe’s will meet in their second Monsignor Martin regular-season encounter at 2 p.m. at Canisius College’s Koessler Athletic Center. The teams’ first meeting, won by Canisius, 77-65, was played before a capacity crowd at Koessler on Jan. 12. Tickets are on sale at each school ($6 reserved, $5 general admission) and are good for all three games that day (11 a.m. freshmen; 12:30 JV).

• There’s a huge girls basketball tournament approaching and it’s not the sectionals. The 31st Lockport Kiwanis Shoot-Out on Friday and Saturday features four of the top-ranked teams in WNY. The Lady Lions enter the event as the new No. 1 large school in WNY. They face No. 1 small school Cardinal O’Hara on Friday at 7:30 p.m. At 6 p.m. No. 5 Lancaster plays No. 2 Sacred Heart. Saturday’s matchups are O’Hara vs. Lancaster at 6 p.m. and Lockport vs. Sacred Heart at 7:30 p.m.

• The Third Section VI Girls Hockey Federation playoffs continue on Wednesday with the semifinals. The games will be played at the Northtown Center at 7 and 8:30 p.m. The championship game is Friday, back at Northtown at 4:30 p.m.

• The Catholic State Wrestling Championships, postponed last week because of weather, are Saturday at St. Francis, starting at 9 a.m.

• The Section VI Boys Swimming and Diving Championships are Saturday at Clarence, starting at 3 p.m.

• Indoor track’s Team Championships are Saturday at Fredonia State, starting at 9 a.m.

•The Section VI boys and girls bowling championships are this week at Thruway Lanes. The girls title will be decided Thursday while the boys bowl on Friday, starting at 9 a.m. each day.

The ECIC boys rolloffs are today at Thruway.

• The Section VI Rifle Championships are Saturday at Alden Middle School at 9 a.m.

Bulletin board

• Starpoint recently inducted three former athletes onto it Wall of Fame. Recognized during the 10th annual event were Michele Cyr (1985), Albert Hurst (1966) and Tracey Stoddard (1991).

• Three St. Joe’s baseball players have signed national letters of intent to play at local colleges. Jared Baldinelli has signed with St. Bonaventure, Donny Kilian with UB and Matt Matre with Canisius.

• Leah Meyer of the St. Mary’s volleyball team has been named a 2012 PrepVolleyball.com High School All-American. She is one of only 10 sophomores in the country to make the team.
