HOCKEY: The West Seneca Wings 12-under team won the 19th annual Salam Backstrom Memorial in Erie, Pa., by beating the Cambridge Roadrunners, 2-1, in triple overtime. The Lady Wings are ranked 16th in the country and have an overall record of 32-18-14. They will be the No. 1 seed heading into the New York State Championships in March. … The Buffalo Stars Junior Program is organizing its 12th season of play in the Empire Junior Hockey League for the 2013-14 season. The team will consist of 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders (plus a practice goalie) that will make a commitment toward hockey and academic excellence.
