Charities should offer evening pickup for items

I have a general complaint against some of Buffalo’s local charities. I have some furniture to donate, none of which can be left outside in inclement weather. I have called three agencies. Not one has evening hours for a pickup at a residence. I’m supposed to miss work in order to meet their schedules.

I do not see the logic in having all of the pickup hours during the day when the odds are no one is at home. They should have some night hours; maybe have a couple of days of 12-7 instead of 9-4. When I mentioned this to them, they all became indignant, telling me what their policy is. So some family that could use some older furniture will now miss out as I drag my old stuff to the curb.
