A 22-year-old man was arraigned Friday on several charges, including attempted murder, stemming from a New Year’s Day shooting in Buffalo, according to Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
Kevin “Booker” Miller was charged in a sealed indictment with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He’s accused of using an illegally-possessed handgun to shoot Maynard Vanever, whom the district attorney identified as an Army private.
Vanever, who was shot twice while in the 2300 block of Bailey Avenue, refused to cooperate with authorities, police said at the time.
Charged with perjury in the case were Miller’s 21-year-old brother, Keyon, and their aunt, Monique Wirt, 41, who allegedly offered false and misleading testimony on behalf of Kevin Miller.
The three were arraigned before Erie County Judge Sheila A. DiTullio.
