The General Motors Foundation is awarding a total of $60,000 in grants to support six area programs that will provide services and benefits for local families.

The recipients are: United Way of Buffalo & Erie County; American Cancer Society; American Heart Association; Boys and Girls Club of the Northtowns; Buffalo Urban League; and the Family Help Center (Car Seats for Communities).

Several members of the GM Tonawanda Engine plant’s community relations committee were on hand to present the checks on Friday at the Buffalo Auto Show.
