SOUTH DAYTON – Valentine’s Day comes early to the Village of South Dayton with “You Gotta Love It,” a series of heart-warming events on Saturday.

New York & Lake Erie Railroad’s “Valentine Express” will give mini-rides through the village in a heated passenger car every hour from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $2 and go on sale at the depot at 10:30 a.m.

The Village Library will offer children’s activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with face painting at 10:30. Also in the library, the Dye family will talk about making maple syrup, the Dayton Historical Society will have a display and Becky Dudley of Cornell Cooperative Extension will present “Eat Smart New York.”

The library also is sponsoring a $1 Valentine Heart fundraiser to update the village playground. Hearts, which also are available at downtown stores, can be inscribed with messages and hung at the village gazebo. The playground project also will benefit from sales of coffee and hot chocolate at the gazebo.
