Niagara Falls-based Unifrax has acquired Lauscha Fiber International, a manufacturer headquartered in Lauscha, Germany.
Unifrax makes ceramic fiber insulation products, while LFI develops, makes and sells glass microfibers.
LFI has manufacturing locations in Germany, South Carolina, Russia and Bahrain. The business has about 250 employees, who are now part of Unifrax.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Unifrax bought LFI from two companies controlled by Gerhard Burger.
“It was important to me to find a home for Lauscha with a strong, growth-oriented company that would continue to invest in the business and support its future growth. Unifrax is the perfect fit,” Burger said in a statement.
Unifrax has about 2,000 employees worldwide and is majority owned by affiliates of American Securities LLC.
