The Amherst Town Board this week approved rezoning a half-acre parcel on Rensch Road near the University at Buffalo for the building of a one-story, seven-unit apartment building.

The developer, Boncrest, had come before the board Jan. 7 to seek rezoning to “multifamily residential” for the 5,300-square-foot project, but board members had questions regarding the minimum square footage requirements. Boncrest responded with revised site plans for the two- and three-bedroom apartments.

The board also approved a resolution by Council Member Guy Marlette to rename and expand the work of the town’s “Building Height Review Committee” to include a broader discussion of the context and design of commercial building proposals. The committee will be renamed the “Commercial and Residential District Review Committee.”
