A Clarence woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she rear-ended a car stopped at a red light on Shimerville Road in the Town of Clarence Tuesday night, state police said.

Gail M. Culligan, 41, was northbound on Shimerville approaching Greiner Road at about 9:30 p.m. when she hit a car stopped at the stop light.

Troopers aid Culligan failed several road sobriety tests and was taken to the Clarence state police barracks for further processing.

She refused a breath test and was charged with DWI, refusal of a breath screening test and following too closely. She is slated to appear in town court on Feb. 14.
