State police made arrests in separate prison contraband incidents involving marijuana at two local correctional facilities on Saturday, officials reported Wednesday.
Jose H. Alicea, 28, of Syracuse was charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana for allegedly bringing a small plastic baggie of pot to an inmate he was visiting at Attica Correctional Facility.
He was arraigned on charges in Attica town court and remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.
On the same day, Candace Hurst, 28, of Buffalo was also charged with second-degree promoting contraband and unlawful possession of marijuana for bringing what was described by police as a “small quantity” of marijuana to a prisoner at Collins Correctional Facility.
She was turned over to troopers for processing and was released on an appearance ticket. She was scheduled to appear in Collins Town Court Wednesday evening.
