Buffalo CarShare is adding a new hub at Buffalo State College.

The nonprofit agency – which rents vehicles to its members at an hourly or daily rate – now has a fleet of 14 vehicles at 11 hubs throughout Buffalo with the addition of a 2013 Toyota Prius and a 2013 Kia Soul at its newest location on the Elmwood Avenue campus.

The Buffalo State community is invited to learn more about the program and become members at a kickoff event at 12:15 p.m. today on the first-floor lobby of the Campbell Student Union.

The partnership between the college and Buffalo CarShare – made possible with funding from the John R. Oishei Foundation – not only provides students access to a vehicle, but is projected to free up as many as 30 parking spaces as the program grows.

“This helps us respond to student concerns about available parking and demonstrates our commitment to sustainability,” said Michael LeVine, the college’s vice president for finance and management.
