Advanced Monolythic Ceramics has notified the state Department of Labor that it will close its Olean manufacturing plant this summer, affecting 65 employees.

The closing of the Cattaraugus County plant, located on Constitution Avenue, is expected to occur by Aug. 31, according to a notice the company filed with the state on Monday.

The company told the state that work is being consolidated at a site in California, but did not specify where.

The company’s corporate parent is Johanson Dielectrics, based in Sylmar, Calif.

An AMC representative who did not give her name said the company would not release further details on Monday.

AMC’s website says the company has served the aerospace, biomedical, military, satellite, industrial and communication electronics industries since 1994.

AMC’s expertise in the field of military electronics, in particular power conversion equipment, has led to the development of many application-specific solutions, the company says on its website.

The county’s director of economic development, planning and tourism could not be reached to comment Monday.
