Guitarist Michael DiSanto and his bandmates in Verse – Zuri Elise Appleby, Deshawn D Ray Jackson and Rufus Cole Jr. – have been packing them in at Duke’s Bohemian Grove Bar in Allentown on Tuesdays for the past several months. The weekly “Neo-Soul Tuesday” series has been a success, and its rotating guest vocalist format has lent an air of excitement to the proceedings.

Now, DiSanto and Verse will host their first-ever Neo-Soul Sessions show at the Tralf Music Hall (622 Main St.) at 8 p.m. Saturday. Verse will play two sets, joined by guest vocalists Bentlee’ Gavin Wright and Steve Lin. The gig will also feature a performance from the Other Side of Main Street, led by saxophonist Will Holton, and also featuring Walter Kemp III, David Teaspoon Hulett, Anthony Dyal, Shawn West, Brian Freeman, Chunka Amare, Richii Valentino and Brian Pullins. Expect things to get good and funky. Tickets are $10 advance (box office) or $14 at the door.

Hall of Fame nominees

Nominees are being accepted for this year’s class of inductees to the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame. Perhaps you have a favorite artist or band you feel has been overlooked. Or maybe you’d like to nominate yourself. (Yes, you can do that.)

According to the BMHOF folks, to be eligible, “nominated individuals and groups must have been born or lived in Western New York and contributed greatly to their musical careers while here.” Musicians and music industry-related individuals who have had a significant impact on the area music scene can nominate themselves, or each other, by completing the nomination form located at: buffalomusic.org/nominate.html.
