Erie County Judge Thomas P. Franczyk sentenced a former Bassett Manor administrator on Friday to 1 and 1/3 to four years in prison for stealing $110,174 from a 69-year-old resident of the Amherst assisted-living and retirement home.
Charmesa Brown, 40, of Linda Drive, Cheektowaga, pleaded guilty in November to second-degree grand larceny for writing checks to herself from the victim’s account between October 2010 and July 2012.
Brown had faced a minimum prison sentence of one to three years and a maximum of five to 15 years on the grand larceny count.
The resident’s credit union alerted authorities after spotting so many checks made out to Brown.
Brown has not made any restitution.
But the nursing facility has agreed to make the victim whole, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Brown also admitted to offering a false instrument for filing in the first-degree because she did not report the stolen money when she filled out her state income tax return.
