Two men and two women using fake identities were all stopped at the international border between Canada and the United States in the last week or so, officials of the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection field operations in Buffalo said Wednesday.

On Jan. 19, a Jamaican woman identified through additional inquiries as Forrester Vassell, 45, was arrested at the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge and charged with misuse of a passport and making a false claim of U.S. citizenship, after Customs and Border Patrol officers said they noticed inconsistencies in the U.S. passport bearing a different name that she showed to get into this country.

On Jan. 25 at the Peace Bridge, Stanislav Yelizarov, was arrested on misuse of a passport and making false statement charges, after officers reported they noticed discrepancies between his appearance and the U.S. passport he was using as proof of identity.

Another man and woman also were arrested at the Peace Bridge on identity issues but Customs spokesman Thomas Rusert said their identifies are being kept confidential due to “ongoing issues” in that case.
