Dr. Michael W. Cropp, president and CEO of Independent Health Association in Williamsville, has been elected as the new chairman of the board of the Alliance of Community Health Plans, a national trade group.
Cropp, a board-certified family physician who leads the No. 2 health insurer in Western New York, will serve a two-year term, succeeding Scott Armstrong of Group Health Cooperative in Seattle. The Alliance is a national trade group whose 22 members are community-based and regional health plans and provider groups that together provide coverage and care for 16 million Americans.
Cropp joined Independent Health in 1996 as chief medical officer and was named president and CEO in 2004, succeeding the company’s founder. He is also the founding chairman of both the P2 Collaborative of Western New York and HEALTHeLINK.
