Buffalo police have identifed the 54-year-old Amherst woman who died late Monday night in Erie County Medical Center, about six hours after she was struck by a car while trying to cross Niagara Street.

Melissa Dispenza, of Hendricks Boulevard, was attempting to cross Niagara, near West Ferry Street, at about 5:15 p.m., when she was hit by a silver Honda Civic, police said.

No charges have been filed, but police say the incident remains under investigation.
