The Buffalo History Museum will conduct public tours of the Hotel @ the Lafayette on three Saturdays in the coming months, guided by the museum’s program manager, Tara Lyons.

Each tour at the renovated historic hotel at Washington and Clinton streets, opposite Lafayette Square, begins at noon in the main lobby of the hotel at 391 Washington St. and gives considerable insight into its designer, Louise Bethune, the first American woman officially recognized as a professional architect.

The tours are followed by a discussion over lunch in the building’s renovated Pan American Grill and Brewery.

The seven-story hotel, on the National Register of Historic Places, opened for business in 1904. Additions to the original structure were built in 1916-17 and 1924-26. Tour dates are Feb. 9, March 2 and April 6.

Since space is limited, registration is required; call 873-9644, Ext. 301. The cost is $35 for the general public and $30 for members of the Buffalo History Museum.
