POLISH PRIDE – The Polish-American Congress, Western New York Division, is sponsoring a Polish-American Happy Hour from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Flappy’s Greyside Grill and Pub, 5700 Transit Road, West Seneca.

PAGE TURNERS – The North Tonawanda History Museum will hold its Winter Used Book Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Paperback books are 50 cents each or three for $1. Hard covers are $1 each or three for $2. A bag of books is $5. Book sale customers also get free admission to the museum, which is featuring exhibits on the Underground Railroad for Black History Month.

LOVING PARIS – The Alliance Francaise de Buffalo, which promotes French language and culture, is presenting The Secrets of Paris Travel Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in Room 210 of the E.H. Butler Library at Buffalo State College. Featured speaker will be Doni Belau, founder and contributor to The Girls Guide to Paris travel website.

The workshop will explore natural wine bars and the new cocktail craze in Paris; the extended Bordeaux area, including Ile de Re, St. Jean de Luz, St. Emilion, Sauternes and the Dordogne; walking tours; romantic Paris myths and historical highlights; trendy new areas such as Canal St. Martin in the Second District; and how to plan a romantic escape for two.

WHITE WEDDING – The Buffalo History Museum wants to say yes to a dress – a traditional wedding gown to add to its collection.

To find it, the museum is holding a Wedding Dress Contest. Entries must be submitted by Feb. 11 and include a photo of the dress and a 150- to 350-word short story about it. Any dress owner can participate. For info, call 873-9644, Ext. 301, or visit www.buffalohistory.org.

The winner will be announced March 3 at Something Old, Something New, the museum’s first wedding-themed fundraising event, which will feature an exhibit of historic gowns and oversized bridal photos from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s by Ettore-Winter Studio that were featured in Tegler’s Dress Shop.
