A man accused of locking two people inside a 7th Street apartment while he beat them was charged Saturday with robbery, unlawful imprisonment and assault.

Buffalo police said Jamal D. Mobley, 27, of 7th Street, repeatedly struck the victims in the head and face after locking them in the apartment shortly after 10:30 p.m.

When the victims tried to call for help, police said, Mobley took their cellphones and proceeded to choke one of the people.

Police said Mobley eventually fled the apartment and had to be subdued.
