WHO?: Mike Willard, guitar/vocals; Danimal Canon, guitar; Chris Dlugosz, keyboards; Ian Machniak, bass; Larry Steele, drums.

WHAT?: Video game soundtrack music interpreted as blisteringly virtuosic progressive rock with a metal edge. Armcannon plays music of jaw-dropping complexity, with face-melting power. What this band can pull off in concert should be impossible. It’s akin to watching Dweezil Zappa perform his late father, Frank’s, computer-based composition “G-String Tornado” in real-time on electric guitar – meaning, it is music that requires dazzling skill, that demands to be played with emotional intensity and conviction. The band constructs its own arrangements of these game-related themes.

CHECK OUT: “Leg Vacuum 2,” a new album, available via http://armcannon.bandcamp.com/album/legvacuum-2.

WHAT’S NEXT?: Though “Leg Vacuum 2” is available for purchase now, the official release party is March 16 in Nietzsche’s (248 Allen St.).
