Last weekend the Buffalo Stars Girls U19 hockey team won the Adirondack Northstar Winter Classic in Lake George. They defeated the Ottawa Valley Thunder, a team they lost to earlier in the tournament, in the championship game. Representing the Stars were: Margaret Janiga, Lauren Orynawka, Brandi Bauer, Alyssa Cardina, Brianna Cardina, Alexa Ditonto, Lindsey Shubbuck, Amanda Krauss, Meghan Fonfara, Marissa Janiga, Claudia Koenig, Megan Niesyty, Bernadette O’Connell, Kathryn Ryan, Lizz Stoner, Courtney Thornton and Jamie Wheeler.
BASEBALL: The University at Buffalo’s baseball staff is hosting a camp Feb. 19-20 for players 6-12 years old. The camp will provide quality instruction along with use of the UB athletic facilities. Cost is $75. For information call 645-6834.
BASKETBALL: The Lady Lions club will be holding tryouts for the 2013 AAU season Feb. 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. at North Buffalo Community Center. Tryouts are for girls in grades 7-9. Eighth and ninth graders will be on the court on the 23rd from 4 to 6 p.m. and the 24th noon-2 p.m. Tryouts for tenth and eleventh graders will be held the 23rd from 6 to 8 p.m. and the 24th from 2 to 4 p.m.
