Canisius College won for the sixth time in eight games, dropping Loyola (Md.), 60-46, at Reitz Arena y in Baltimore on Thursday. The Golden Griffins also won their third consecutive road game to improve to 8-10 overall and 5-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Senior Ashley Durham led all players with 21 points, going 8 for 13 from the floor. Junior Jen Morabito and sophomore Kayla Hoohuli joined Durham with three three-pointers each as Canisius went 11 for 26 from downtown. Sophomore Brooke Angelos had six assists in 18 minutes while Hoohuli added four assists.

“I felt we built off of Sunday’s victory and got another good team win,” Canisius College Terry Zeh said. “We made a lot of good decisions to run our offense the way Loyola played us. Ashley gave us those points early and then we had a lot of other players contribute down the stretch.”

A baseline jumper from senior Allison Braun gave Canisius a 50-30 lead, its largest of the game.

Loyola answered with nine consecutive points, but two free throws from freshman Tiahana Mills and three-pointers from Braun and Mills put the game away.

Alyssa Sutherland led Loyola (6-12, 1-6) with 11 points while Katie Sheahin had nine rebounds.

Loyola shot 30.4 percent from the floor and was held to 4-for-24 from long range.

Canisius returns home to face rival Niagara University, which lost a 60-58 heartbreaker on the road at Iona on Thursday, in the Koessler Center on Sunday afternoon.

Iona’s Aleesh Powell hit a jumper with two seconds left to give the Gaels the victory and a sweep of the season series with the Purple Eagles (8-10, 3-4 MAAC).

The Purple Eagles tied the game at 58 on a three-pointer by Val McQuade with 1:10 remaining. Powell missed a layup with 43 seconds left before Lauren Gatto missed a jump shot with 20 seconds remaining. Powell then popped in the game winner.

Gatto led the Purple Eagles with 20 points on 9-of-21 shooting while adding seven rebounds. McQuade scored 16 points and pulled in a team-high nine boards.

Adams had 17 points and 15 rebounds for Iona (10-8, 5-2).
