It will still feel like winter at this year’s annual Winterfest Sunday at Chestnut Ridge Park in Orchard Park, but it won’t be so cold.
Temperatures should rise into the 20s when activities begin at 11 a.m. Sledding, tobogganing, snowboarding, snow bowling, marshmallow roasting, arts and crafts and wood branding are planned.
Glenn Colton will perform at 11 a.m. in the casino, and the snow sculpture contest will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with judging at 2 p.m. Hay rides will be given from noon until 3 p.m. and will cost $3 per person.
Mountain bike races sponsored by the Western New York Mountain Bike Association will start at 1 p.m. and 1:40 p.m. The races will start and finish at the top of the 12-year-old sledding hill.
Winterfest is presented by the Erie County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department in conjunction with Orchard Park Recreation Department.
