William J. Naylon, of the Town of Tonawanda, a real estate broker and retired sales representative, died Sunday while visiting his son William Jr. in Weston, Fla. He was 76.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Kensington High School, where he was a competitive swimmer, and attended Buffalo State College.
He served in the Army in the mid-1950s as a water safety and survival trainer, stationed at Fort Polk, La.
Mr. Naylon worked for more than 25 years as a sales representative for pharmaceutical and medical equipment. His last position was with Ventiv Co. He had been a real estate broker for more than 25 years and was still associated with the Realty USA office on Sheridan Drive in the Town of Tonawanda.
He continued to swim several days a week.
A music lover, he had a fine singing voice and enjoyed live jazz. He was an original Buffalo Bills season-ticket holder and remained a fan.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Susan Doherty; six sons, William Jr., Daniel, Matthew, Michael, Peter and Mark; a daughter, Katherine VanVolkenburg; a brother, Bernard; and a sister, Patricia Kaney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mark Catholic Church, 401 Woodward Ave.
