May 24, 1921 – Jan. 15, 2013
Nancy M. Colangelo, of Amherst, who co-owned a restaurant on Buffalo’s West Side for more than five decades, died Jan. 15 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst.
She was 91.
Born Nancy Valvo in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School.
Mrs. Colangelo was co-owner and operator of Jenny’s Restaurant, at Niagara and Hudson streets, for more than 53 years with her brother, Joseph Valvo.
Customers of the family-run restaurant knew they would receive a generous, hot meal, regardless of their ability to pay, family members said.
A lifelong parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, she was the widow of Carlo Colangelo.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Friday in Holy Cross Church.
