The city's first homicide victim of the year has been identified as Christopher Cotton, 42, of Buffalo.
Buffalo police say Cotton was fatally shot while sitting in a vehicle along Kensington Avenue early Saturday.
The deadly incident occurred shortly after 1 a.m., near Kensington Avenue and Castle Place, between Fillmore Avenue and Grider Street.
Cotton was declared dead at the scene.
