Jimmy Lee Barner, 30, of Buffalo, was ordered by U.S. District Judge Bill Wilson to serve a eight and one-third years in prison on his conviction for being a felon illegally possession firearms and ammunition.
U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. said that during a search of Barner’s Amherst Street apartment in January 2008, government agents found a firearm and ammunition.
At the time Barner was on parole for a state court conviction. His house was searched four years ago by state parole officers and special agents of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
The conviction came as a result of an investigation by the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Hochul said.
