Armed guards may have deterred school shooter

A recent letter writer categorically stated that “armed guards” at the Sandy Hook school would not have been a deterrent to the shootings. How can he be so sure of himself? How can he possibly know this to be a fact? I am thinking that perhaps the parents of those murdered kids dearly wish that their school had armed security. It is certainly possible that even one sharp, alert cop in that school could have saved a lot of lives in that situation.
