Dorothy M. Hornbuckle, a retired nurse, died Jan. 4 at her Largo, Fla., winter home after a short illness. The West Seneca resident was 90.
Born Dorothy Sackett in Silver Creek, she obtained her nursing degree from Alfred University.
In the 1950s, Mrs. Hornbuckle worked as a nurse at Buffalo General Hospital, then at Mercy Hospital as a head nurse from the early 1970s until she retired in 1986.
She also worked with her husband, Richard E., at Dick Hornbuckle Garden Supplies in West Seneca for 30 years.
Mrs. Hornbuckle was a life member of the Amana Garden Club. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging and playing bridge and pinochle.
Her husband of 65 years died in 2008. She is survived by a son, John, and a daughter, Barbara Galati.
A memorial service will be at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 26 in Full Gospel Tabernacle, 3210 Southwestern Blvd., Orchard Park.
