Hundreds are expected to turn out Saturday in downtown Buffalo for a “Gun Appreciation Day” rally organized locally by New York Tea Party leader Rus Thompson.

“What started out as a small thing is absolutely exploding,” said Thompson.

Close to 700 people had already agreed to come to the rally as of Thursday morning, according to the event’s Facebook page.

The rally is one of an array of events being organized nationwide this Saturday in support of the Second Amendment.

It will be held at noon in Niagara Square.

Participants are being asked to “bring the Stars and Stripes and pro Second Amendment signs,” the invitation on Facebook reads.

“Lets show our government that we won’t tolerate our rights being infringed upon,” it continued.
