A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. Major, a retired AM&A’s supervisor, will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Amelia Catholic Church, 2999 Eggert Road, Town of Tonawanda.
Mrs. Major, of Amherst, died Jan. 11 in the Canterbury Woods retirement community after a short illness. She was 92.
Born Mary Paukovits in Szombathely, Hungary, she started working in Buffalo as a seamstress at AM&A’s department store and eventually became a supervisor.
She was a member of St. Amelia Church.
Mrs. Major played tennis until age 90, was a member of the Buffalo Racquet Club, and won many national and state tennis awards.
She was the widow of Louis L. Major.
