A public hearing will be held next month on a state proposal to restripe Delaware Avenue in the Village of Kenmore.
Village lawmakers Tuesday night approved publishing a legal notice to advertise the Feb. 19 hearing, which will begin at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave.
In October, the state Department of Transportation proposed restriping the approximately one-mile stretch to clearly identify two, 11-foot travel lanes; a 12-foot center, two-way turn lane; and two, 8-foot parking lanes. Though Delaware Avenue was designed for a single lane of travel in each direction within the village, motorists tend to travel two abreast on the street, which also is known as State Route 384.
Village officials sought a state review of traffic patterns after receiving complaints from residents and merchants about them. A DOT representative is scheduled to attend the public hearing.
