The Williamsville Village Board will hold a public hearing Monday regarding an increase to the village water rate to cover ongoing operating losses to the village’s aging water system.

Mayor Brian Kulpa said that even though the village is working with the Erie County Water Authority on a possible county takeover of the village water system, such a takeover would still be a long-term process, and the village can’t wait that long to address water budget deficits.

Because of the anticipated interest in the meeting, the Village Board will hold its Monday meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Meeting House, 5658 Main Street. The meeting will be preceded by a work session at 6 p.m., also in the Meeting House.

Kulpa said he’ll also give the public an update on the Picture Main Street project.
