The Town Board last Monday approved a two-year extension of its contract with Wm. Schutt & Associates to provide engineering services for the town.

The terms of the agreement weren’t included in the resolution but Supervisor Dino J. Fudoli said the contract maintains the firm’s current fee and includes an opt-out clause after one year.

In response to a question from resident Lee Chowaniec at last Monday’s meeting, Town Board members said the town didn’t seek proposals from other engineering firms before agreeing to renew Wm. Schutt’s contract with the town.

But Fudoli and the other board members praised the work of Wm. Schutt and the firm’s point person, Robert Harris.

“I’ve grown to respect Schutt’s experience,” said Councilman Mark S. Aquino, a point echoed by Councilman Ronald Ruffino Sr., who said any replacement engineering firm would need time to get acclimated to the town.
