Northeast District police arrested a Dewey Avenue man Saturday in connection with the theft of assault weapons and other firearms in a burglary at a Wyoming Avenue home.

Jamar T. Carney, 21, was charged with second-degree burglary, third- and fourth-degree grand larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief. Others are believed to have been involved in the break-in, which occurred between 8:15 p.m. Friday and 12:35 a.m. Saturday, Buffalo police reported.

The resident of the home said more than $25,000 worth of property was taken, including an AK-47 semiautomatic rifle, a Mosin-Nagant Soviet military rifle, a Kel Tec .40-caliber carbine, a Mossberg pump-action shotgun, a BB gun and $3,920 worth of ammunition.

Also stolen were $17,000 worth of clothing, sneakers and jewelry; $1,850 worth of computer games and audio-video equipment; a laptop computer; and assorted bottles of liquor and pills.
