Feb. 10, 1943 – Jan. 9, 2013

Nicholas Rastelli of Grand Island, the retired owner of a tiling business, died Wednesday in Roswell Park Cancer Institute. He was 69.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Kenmore West High School. He served in the Army National Guard during the 1960s.

Mr. Rastelli laid ceramic and marble tile for a living. He worked in the business for about 45 years, first for local companies and for 35 years afterward, he took over his father’s business, Marino Rastelli & Sons. He retired in 2008.

He enjoyed weight lifting and coaching his grandchildren in wrestling, the martial art of judo and other sporting endeavors.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Carol Grisanti; two daughters, Anita Hawley and Tina Taylor; three sons, Nicholas II, Tony and Marty; three brothers, Enzo, Marino “Joe” Jr. and Thomas; and three sisters, Ida Colling, Jeanette Kelly and Andrea.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Whitehaven Road Baptist Church, 1290 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island.
